About Nisha Millet


Nisha Millet is an accomplished Indian swimmer who has achieved great success both nationally and internationally. She has represented India in various international competitions, including the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships. Millet has won more than 600 gold medals at State, National and International Meets. She has represented India at the world swimming championships (1998 and 2004) & Asian Games (1998). She is the first Indian to qualify for swimming at the Olympics in the 200 meter freestyle (Sydney 2000). She has won the highest number of individual medals by any Indian athlete at a national event - 14 Gold Medals at the Manipur National Games. She was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2000, which is given by the government of India to recognize outstanding achievement in sports. In addition, she was awarded the Rajyotsava Award in 2001, which is the second-highest civilian honor in the state of Karnataka. Millet's contribution to the sport of swimming extends beyond her own achievements as a swimmer. She founded the Nisha Millet Swimming Academy in Bangalore in 2006, which provides world-class swimming coaching to young athletes.
